Self-Care Ideas: What I’m Crushing On!
Self-Care Ideas: What I’m Crushing On!
Let’s talk Self-Care Ideas I’m crushing on!
For me there are layers of self-care that make up a good day. On the top of the list of self-care ideas is sleep. It all starts with good sleep! So, a good bed and a good headspace is your foundation for your day. If you wake up feeling grumpy you’re off to a bad start. If you wake up feeling rested you’re doing well. So, make sure you’ve ticked all your sleepy time boxes the night before. Have a relaxing shower before bed, make sure you’re snug and comfy, wear your favourite pj’s and don’t drink caffeine too close to bedtime. For me these are the best tips for getting a good nights sleep, and staying sane, because without sleep we are basically useless!
Mindset First
Mindset can make or break a day. I like to ease into my day. It starts me off in the right mindset. Hitting snooze repeatedly and dragging yourself out of bed is a sure fire way to a bad day. Give yourself time to ease into it. Take the time to sit in bed with a cup of coffee and a good book. If you have kids, this is the best time to just be quiet. I love this time, when all I can hear is the birds singing outside. It is peaceful and my quality ‘me time’.
The next thing I do is set my intentions for the day. This follows on from choosing your mindset. Setting your intention is like making a decision to be happy. It’s a conscious choice when you wake up in the morning to say thank you for being alive and well. Wriggle your toes, stretch out your limbs and remember the blessing of a new day. Set an intention to have a productive day, a joyful day, a healthy day etc. When you step into your day making a conscious choice you are much more likely to achieve your goal.
Next, let’s look at the resources and products that I use to set up my self-care routine.
My Self-Care Ideas Snapshot for the Day
Meditation has helped me find a sense of calm in life that I didn’t even realize I was capable of. It is a life-changing practice that connects me to myself and slows the pace enough for me to be able to put things into perspective a little bit. Fantastic resources for meditation (and all things personal development) are Gaia and Mindvalley. I love both of these for their focus on lifting up the human race. If you’re just looking for in-your-face motivation Tony Robbins is the way to go!
Yoga is Definitely a ‘Good Day’ Practice for Me
Love, love, love yoga. It leaves me with that feeling like my body is saying Thank You. My body feels alive and well and happy. If you’re looking for self-care ideas, start with this one! My absolute favourite is doing a yoga session with Kassandra, I throw on my favourite yoga pants, grab my mat and do my exercise routine right there in the comfort of my own home. Check her out on her YouTube channel here: Yoga with Kassandra

Coffee! Yes, it’s self-care!
I start my day with a quality cup of coffee, lovingly made by our in-house barista (ie. Moi). My coffee machine has a special place in my heart and makes me smile every day. Laugh if you must, but when you love coffee like I do having quality coffee at home is a major win!

Interesting selection of products and books. Liked the magic bullet.
Such a great buy, I love mine!
I never thought of coffee as self care and I love that idea!!!!
Lol, self-care looks different for everyone! 🙂
Nutri Bullet is definitely an essential. Aromatherapy and candles are also top priority… before I bring out my mat I light my candles and spray my Africology Neroli Spray. I have embraced the idea of an alter of sorts … giving thanks to the earth and showing gratitude and respect. It can be anything that means something to you. For me it’s candles, flowers, photos, plants, healing stones etc.. it’s my little corner of the house ?
Sounds amazing! Just listening to you describe it sounds welcoming and calming. Thanks for your comment ?
Self care is so important, if you are not taking care of yourself you can not focus on anything else. However self consumption is a slippery slope too!
You are right, Jen. My view is that everything in life is about balance! Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Briana! I really believe that taking time for yourself changes you whole view of the world.
I still have yet to read that Rachel Hollis book. I have the “stop saying sorry” one but haven’t cracked it open yet. Maybe it’s time!

So glad you liked them Sheryl! Both of these books are so inspirational, you’ll love them!
Self care definitely a necessity and not a luxury. These little things that we do ourselves improves the mental health. That’s for sharing your self care routine .
Yes! Self-care is seldom taken into account when mental health is being discussed but it is so important! Thanks for your comment Surabhi!
Self-care is so important! I’m with you on the coffee part. My favorite time of the weekends are sitting in bed with my coffee.

A diffuser this time of year is such a great way to add a little moisture into the air with the essential oils
My diffuser is one of my favourite things in my home, it is so soothing!
This post is very useful. Great ideas! My favorites here are essential oil, diffuser, and coffee, although still on the lookout for a sleek, compact espresso machine.
I know some people think coffee isn’t self care but for me it is 100% 🙂
