10 Quotes that inspired me in 2020

This year has been a year of dedicated personal growth for me.  It’s kind of like making taffy (and I’m the taffy!).  I’ve been stretched and twisted, molded and shaped.  I’ve also had some sweet goodness added in to the mix, just to make it all worthwhile. Personal growth is an ongoing process of reaching for more.  For more understanding, for more skills and insights and for more joy in the process of life.  It is that realization that every day has a new lesson, that you never ‘know it all’.  I love that!  To me, the constant growth is part of the beauty of it.  I’d like to share some of the quotes that have inspired me in this crazy year if 2020.

These quotes have reached out and spoken to me, giving me inspiration to share ideas with you.  This is what this blog is all about, finding inspiration in life, and sharing it with you.  It is my way of contributing to the energy that is put out into this world every day.  These quotes are food for thought, always in a positive way.  Let’s take a look!

1.It always seems impossible until it is done. – Nelson Mandela

Coming from such an inspiring man, this quote is even more impactful.  Never underestimate yourself.  Without putting yourself out there into the world you will never know what you are capable of.  Reach for your dreams, and you may just discover your true potential.

2. We don’t stop playing because we grow old… we grow old because we stop playing. – George Bernard Shaw

Adulting can really drain us of our joy!  But, somewhere inside us the same spirit still lives on.  Find joy where ever you can.  It doesn’t have to be splashing in puddles, but find it!  Maybe it is art, writing, woodwork or mountain climbing.  Laughing with friends, funny face selfies, you name it!  Find what brings you joy in life!

3. Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud. – Maya Angelou

Every day we have the power to make a difference in someone’s life.  Small acts can impact the lives of others.  Be that someone that made another person smile.  Be that rainbow for someone who’s day felt dark.  Know that your small acts can make a difference.

4. If you are always trying to be normal you will never know how amazing you can be. – Maya Angelou

Break free from that box you’ve been put in.  We are all unique and purposefully designed so!  Hiding your uniqueness is like refusing a gift from God.  Accept yourself as whole and unique and enough, just as you are!

5. Laughter is the language of the soul. – Pablo Neruda

Find ways to laugh! Every Single Day!  Laughter brings joy and freedom for our souls!

6. Keep your face always towards the sunshine and the shadow will fall behind you. – Walt Whitman

This is a perfect way to say ‘stay positive’.  Mindset is everything.  Keep yourself focused on the good, stay grateful for what you have and put the negative behind you.

7. Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space.  Invite one to stay. – Maya Angelou

How powerful is this quote!  A simple reminder that as long as you choose fear there will be no space for hope.  And, when you choose the positive, the negative is not welcome.  There is no space for both in your heart.  Choose the good every time!

8. Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass.  It’s about learning to dance in the rain. – Vivian Greene

Let this be the motto of your life!  Life isn’t easy, but there are always opportunities for joy.  Finding the ability to smile through the rain, to dance through the rain, is like finding the magic formula to a happy life.  It all boils down to a positive mindset!

9.  Hope and fear cannot occupy the same space.  Invite one to stay. – Maya Angelou

This is again about mindset, but Maya Angelou just has a way of saying it!  Which would you choose?  It’s really so simple when you understand that there is no room for hope when you let fear take over.  So, choose!  Don’t make space for the negative, choose to focus on the good.

10. A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in. – Robert Orben

This one rounds the year off perfectly.  It’s a reminder to be gentle with yourself.  To give yourself time for rest and renewal.  Do nothing!  Be still and let your body and mind feel rejuvenated.  Enjoy your holidays, relax and let’s go into the New Year feeling renewed, filled with joy and looking towards the future.
